Janelle Astorga-Ramos
Co - Executive Director
Janelle Astorga-Ramos is a student at the University of New Mexico. She’s studying Political Science and Chicanx Studies, with a focus in education. Janelle has been community organizing since she was 14 years old.
She says, “Being a youth organizer for Learning Alliance is extremely exciting because it gives me a chance to help develop and train students to become leaders in their community, just the way I was once empowered to be.”

Isabella Baker
Co - Executive Director
Isabella has been in the organizing and social justice world since she was very young coming from a family of organizers. She has always had a passion for youth empowerment and education transformation in New Mexico and started organizing when she was 14. Isabella joined Learning Alliance in 2017 and worked with the team to develop and implement an anti racist youth leadership and organizing skill development pipeline for middle, high school, and college students. In 2020, she graduated from UNM with a BA in Psychology and Chicanx Studies with a focus in Politics and Social Movements and she became Director of Policy at LANM where she supported youth in education around the legislative process, developing a for youth by youth legislative platform under TENM, and created opportunities and bridges between young people and decision makers. Now as Co- Executive Director, she is excited to be in this role and to continue to lead and develop the work of the organization to further create pathways for young people in New Mexico to lead and create the education system they need and deserve.

Erick Serrano
Youth Organizer
Erick Serrano is a 17 year old student interning at Youth Voices In Action. Currently he is working towards developing his skills as an organizer and pursuing to become a leader in his community. Erick has been able to continue to help lead events while gaining insight on current issues. Erick strives to continue developing all different aspects of himself through creating change for all.
